Here…?
Misalignment
I drift a breath outside my skin
A glass between the world and sin
My voice arrives a step too late
Like someone else decides my fate
Hands move
but not because I will
A marionette
uncanny still
The mirror shows a stranger’s face
Eyes vacant in their borrowed place
I watch the day like it’s a play
The lines I speak just sounds I say
I laugh on cue
I nod
I blink
But none of it is me
… I think.
Time becomes a shifting fog
Each moment just a silent slog
The room is here
but far away
And I am smoke in disarray
Touch feels like it isn’t mine
Detached from bone
removed from spine
A tether snapped
a faded thread
Half-alive
but not quite dead
And though I beg to come back home
My name floats out
a hollow tone
Still I exist
somehow
somewhere
A ghost who doesn’t know their there.
