Tired
The art of dragging yourself through the day
I wake up weary
drag through the day
Chasing moments that slip away
A to-do list stares with quiet blame
And I can’t keep up
I’m burning with shame
I’m mad at myself
this sluggish skin
This fog that wraps me from within
Others move like sparks
like fire
And here I am
a burned-out wire.
I want to care
to build
to try
To stop just watching time go by
But rest has teeth and takes its toll
And somehow sleep still leaves a hole
Why can’t I be more than this haze?
Why do I stall in endless days?
My body’s heavy
My heart feels small
But I can’t explain it all
I hate that I don’t have a fight
That rest feels wrong but nothing’s right.
I ache to move
to be inspired
I’m just
so
goddamn
tired.
